I have been involved with the festival / competition venue since my Middle School days! (Many moons ago!). This experience was so influential on me as a young musician and one I hope to make even more special for young musicians! While competition drives many of our ensembles, the experience of hearing big band music, LIVE, is something that our students don't get a chance to hear too often. This package / presentation is designed to provide our students, of any level, with recordings of their performances filled with constructive feedback from members of the EPBB, provide in-person clinics (immediately post - performance) of their performance with an EPBB member, and provide a set of music with the full EPBB so the students, audience, and educators get to hear the music we're studying and rehearsing performed by professionals in our area.
The EPBB Jazz Festival Package will provide -
Anywhere from 1 - 4 hired professionals that can act as judges/clinicians - (Suggestions shown below)
- 1 consistent (in-house) pro that will be responsible for scoring and assigning numbers and providing a recording, with comments, of the performance.
- 2 professionals that will be responsible for providing clinics for the bands post-performance and will also provide recordings, with feedback, of the performance. (These judges will NOT be responsible for scoring...just feedback). (While one of these judges is giving comments and feedback in the auditorium, the other will be providing a clinic with the band that just finished performing on stage.).
- 1 professional to moderate a sight reading room post-performance.
- 1 professional to provide an improvisation clinic specific to your charts that you're playing
- Professionals running masterclasses about instrument-specific material.
1 set of music (30-45 minutes) from the EPBB. (Could start the show or end depending on your itinerary). To talk through options, click here to get in touch!

Things get a bit more interesting at this tier. You'll have me and 2 other professionals. They can work in a traditional role offering feedback over a recording or, if you're interested in some other ways to set up your show, reach out and let's chat! Click here!
An opportunity to really make an impact for the students at the festival. Options to use the hired professionals get really interesting here. I have ideas! Click here to find out how your show can be organized!
I'm offering virtual feedback recordings. All you need to do is send either an audio or video file of your group and I have the rest covered. I offer audio only formats where, similar to a local competition or festival, I'll make comments as the playback rolls or can offer video feedback, similar to what you see here, where the playback is stopped, elaborated on, and matched to a rubric of your preference.
